March is Colon Cancer Awareness month and the Porcupine Health Unit is encouraging people to get screened, with a specific focus on adult men.
Porcupine Health Unit Public Health Nurse Joanne Bennett spoke about the reasons behind the focus being on males.
Bennett says they plan to achieve this through attending community events to create more awareness.
Bennett says the key is trying to make people more aware, in order for them to better understand the positives of getting checked up.
