I.F. Public Works to shut down Nellie Lake Road West during the day Tuesday

A culvert replacement ahead of road resurfacing work this summer will have Nellie Lake Road West closed during the day on Tuesday. It’s expected to shut down at 9:00am and be reopened before 4:00pmr.

Iroquois Falls public works director Steve Poliquin says it’s the culvert that feeds into Sunset Bay. Property owners north of there will still have access via Cameron Avenue and Nellie Lake Road East.

“They’ll have to go around the long way, however, they still can access their houses from any direction,” he notes reassuringly.

Poliquin says there are no houses in the actual area that will be closed.

The culvert replacement is being done before six kilometres of road resurfacing this summer, and has nothing to do with last year’s flooding.

“This has to do with road maintenance and doing the culvert prior to the construction so we don’t have to dig up the road in two years to replace that culvert. It needs to be replaced now. We’re just doing it proactively.”
