Fundraising continues as 10th anniversary of planning for new SCM approaches

It will be ten years this coming February since work began towards replacing the long-term care home in Iroquois Falls.

Planning and fundraising are ongoing for the new South Centennial Manor.  Construction behind Anson General Hospital could start as early as spring.

Fundraising co-chair Suzanne deLaplante says there’s already a waiting list, so those 96 beds – up from the current 69 – will be immediately filled.  Then she expects fundraising to continue to expand the new facility.

“Oh, absolutely,” she states confidently. “And another project that we’d like to also do is connect the long term care home to the hospital with a link.”

A draw for a cash prize of $10,000 will be made on January 30th. About 900 of the 1,200 tickets have already been sold. If COVID-19 restrictions allow it, the draw will be in conjunction with the fundraising committee’s fifth annual bonspiel at the Iroquois Falls Curling Club

“So we’ve tied in our draw with hoping that we would be having our curling bonspiel, which is another fundraising activity,” deLaplante points out.

With or without the bonspiel, the draw will go ahead at 5:00pm, Saturday, January 30th.
