The Cochrane Food Bank and Neighbour to Neighbour Thrift Store are celebrating Mother’s Day a couple days early.
The thrift store supports the food bank financially, helping ensure it has the essentials on its shelves.
Manager Ardis Chedore says all day Friday, there’s a half-price sale in the thrift store.
“So if there’s furniture, if there are clothing items, whatever is in the store,” she explains, “you’re going to get 50% off your overall purchase.”
Chedore goes on to note that says there’s also a food drive on Saturday at the Commando Pavilion, to help stock the shelves with your donations.
“Any non-perishable food items as well as toiletries, so diapers – we’re always in need of diapers – shampoo, deodorant, things like that are always a necessity alongside of the food items. Something that we’re really looking for right now would be peanut butter.”
That food drive is in conjunction with an Alzheimer’s Society event and a community clean-up.
