We begin this week’s examination of Cochrane history with a riddle from public library archivist Ardis Proulx-Chedore.
“Did you know that the Cochrane High School had an extremely active basketball team in 1946?” she asks. “Sure, you might have known that, but did you know it was a girls basketball team?”
The archives have several photos and newspaper clippings of that team, coached by Miss Athalie Drysdale.
Some of the names that might back memories are Catherine Carter, Olive Gubb, Barbara Howard and Mimi Benson.
