News Canada Day evening at the drive-in SHARE ON: Bob McIntyre, staff Monday, Jun. 29th, 2020 pixabay.com No fireworks in Cochrane for Canada Day on Wednesday night, but you can bring the family to a pop-up drive-in movie at the Tim Horton Event Centre. The featured movie is “Sonic the Hedgehog”. It starts at 10:00pmk. Cochrane Recreation Board chairman Shea Henderson says if you’re there a bit earlier, you can see videos, O Canada and fireworks on the 30-foot screen. Staff from the Empire Theatre will be there selling snacks and refreshments. “We’re not encouraging people to get out of their vehicles,” says Henderson. “They’re actually going to be circulating around to the vehicles and they’ve got all the set-up for using tap and making sure any transactions happen safely and gloves and all that other PPE to make sure everyone feels comfortable.” Henderson adds that it’s an opportunity for the entire family to live the drive-in experience. “It’s going to be a good piece of nostalgia. It’s a nostalgic movie for people who liked Sega back in the day and it’s a nostalgic experience and I know it’s supposed to be a warm night.” You’ll want to make sure to have a good supply of mosquito repellent with you.
