What opens in Iroquois Falls on Friday and what doesn’t, as restrictions are relaxed

When stage two of reopening from COVID-19 happens on Friday, it will hardly be noticeable in Iroquois Falls – at least, based on recreation opportunities.

Rec director Brian Finner says playgrounds still aren’t allowed by the province to open.  Parks will reopen, but with physical distancing and maximum group size restrictions in place.

Finner adds that the recreation complex is staying closed.

“We’re currently doing some work within our aquatic centre, a little bit of a rehab for improving the facility,” he says, “and we’re working very, very closely with the Porcupine Health Unit and all governing bodies to determine best practices and guidelines for the safest reopening plan possible.”

The tennis courts will, however, be open.

The ball park and playing fields remain closed, and team sports are not yet allowed.
