A quick thunderstorm passing through Cochrane late Saturday afternoon dumped a lot of rain in a short time, causing minor flooding in some parts of town.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. In Shawn MacDonald’s case, that means taking the kids for a canoe ride on Fifth Ave. at Sixth St.
“(That’s a) notorious spot that floods when we get a good dumping,” he tells My Cochrane Now Dot Com.
A thunderstorm watch was in place when that good dumping occurred. Official statistics from Environment Canada on how much rain fell while the storm rolled through aren’t yet available.
