Iroquois Falls Man Charged for Fishing Violations

An Iroquois Falls man is being fined $1,300 for fishing offences.

The Ministry of Natural Recourses and Forestry says in June 2017, conservation officers found the man breaking some of the rules on Lake Abitibi and Long Point. Officers say he had 12 skinless walleye, which is eight over the permitted limit.

The man pleaded guilty and has been fined $1,000 for possessing an over-limit fish and another $300 for packaging fish so they are not easily identified.

The MNRF says if you see a violation you should report it. You can call the ministry tip line at 1-877-847-7667, the local ministry office or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can review information on Ontario’s fishing regulations by clicking here.
