Annual I.F. Kidney Walk set for Saturday

That larger than normal group of walkers you see in Iroquois Falls this Saturday will be walking for a cause.

Since 2008, Lynn Gagné and her siblings have been organizing the annual Kidney Walk fundraiser.

“It starts at noon from Jus Jordan Arena and we walk five kilometres,” she tells My Cochrane Now Dot Com. “ We have a route in town that’s exactly five kilometres.”

All the money raised through pledges goes to the Timmins chapter of the Kidney Foundation.  It’s used for services such as the dialysis unit at the district hospital.

All the money raised through pledges goes to the Timmins chapter of the Kidney Foundation, and the dialysis unit at Timmins and District Hospital.

“It stays in the North to help patients from the North that need help with their kidneys,” says Gagné.

She has a personal attachment to the cause.  Her dad, Aurele Lepage, was on dialysis for the final five years of his life, giving his family time with him that they wouldn’t have had otherwise.
