Remi Lake Ski Club could be open after Christmas depending on snow

It appears it will be after Christmas before the Remi Ski Club is open for the season. Board president

Remi Leclerc says they don’t use man-made snow so it’s a matter of waiting for the real stuff to arrive and in the meantime preparation work is completed with new toe ropes installed and mechanical areas checked. He adds the club has become a popular destination for the area.

“Yes we get Kapuskasing, Moonbeam, Smooth Rock, and people from Timmins,” he said. “We’ve had more people from Cochrane coming down and Hearst so we do cover a bit of the area and the region. In the holidays we get people from out of town coming to visit coming to try out our little hill.”

He adds they’re still in need of a club manager for day to day operations.

“It’s a seasonal job so it’s a seasonal position with limited hours, but at the end of the day either retirees or people that have seasonal work and have some time in the winter, definitely we are still looking for somebody,” he said.

The club boasts downhill skiing, sliding, tubing, and snowshoe trails and a chalet.
