You might have thought you accidentally walked into a carnival on Saturday afternoon, at Canadian Tire in Cochrane.
It was a celebration of the business’s 80th anniversary in the Rail Town.
Stephanie Carfagnini has been the dealer at the Cochrane story since February.
“June 1st, 1939, Canadian Tire opened their first store here, downtown on 6th Ave.,” she notes. “It’s been in this particular location (West Highway) for 10 years. But it’s been a wonderful relationship. We’ve been very, very honoured to support the community and surrounding communities.”
On Saturday, 80th anniversary cookies were being sold.
“The proceeds go all to the food bank,” Carfagnini says. “So we want to make sure we’re taking care of our own and for the community to understand how important it is to have a strong relationship.”
