As the summer nears, the sun will be getting brighter and hotter.

According to Porcupine Health Unit Public Nurse Joanne Bennett, their Sun Awareness Week is to educate people on the harsh effects of UV rays.

Bennett also says a main goal during the week is to teach the importance of protecting yourself from sun damage.

She also says we should be limiting our time between 11:00am and 3:00pm outdoors in the sun’s peak hours.

Porcupine Health Unit’s Sun Awareness Week runs from June 5th through the 11th.
