Torr Metals hopes to carry out further mining exploration near Opasatika

Torr Metals is hoping to carry out further mining exploration near Opasatika this year about possible gold deposits in the Filion project.

During a presentation at the Northern Corridor Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting in Kapuskasing, CEO Malcom Dorsey says the junior mining company is waiting on drill permits and other approvals from the federal and provincial governments.

“Our goal for this project is to detect and confirm whether there are high concentrations of gold potential in this area that are worth further exploration,” he said.

Dorsey says the company will be hiring in a variety of areas including environmental monitors and geo-technicians, as well as looking for local companies to help with drilling and trails work.

In a photo on the Torr Metals website, the geological setting in the Filion project covers a 30 kilometre stretch and is comparable to several mines including Detour Lake northeast of Cochrane.
