NewsOPP ISSUE EMAIL-SCAM ALERT SHARE ON: Tim Rout, staff Thursday, Oct. 20th, 2016The OPP is warning residents of another scam. This time it’s an email scam used to commit identity theft and other crimes. Staff Sergeant Baldassare Nuccio with the James Bay Detatchment says we’ve had several scams in the area and is reminding residents to always be cautious before processing a payment or releasing any information. These emails will claim to be from an established organization such as a bank or government agency requesting information. North Eastern Police units say if you feel like you’ve been a victim of fraud to contact local police, Crime Stoppers or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Department directly.
