Food bank offers free lunch

The innovations keep coming at the Cochrane Food Bank and Neighbour-to-Neighbour Thrift Store.

Next Thursday, February 7th, between 11:00am and 1:00pm, it’s serving a free soup and bun lunch at the Legion on Sixth Avenue.

Food bank manager Ardis Chedore says it’s open to anyone.

“No questions asked,” she explains. “If you choose to make a conation, that is up to you. But there is no monetary donation required.”

Ardis Chedore says there’s not a lot of expense involved.  The food bank has an excess of soup ingredients.

“So we’re really lucky to be able to provide this with no cost, through different grant providers,” she notes.

The lunch could become a monthly event.

The thrift store has also added hours to its operation. It’s now open Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 4:00pm.  All the money it makes goes to the food bank.
