Sensory-friendly Halloween party offered

Some kids can’t tolerate the spooky sights and sounds of Halloween. That’s why Hands the Family Help Network has a party this Saturday afternoon, for families of children with autism and other sensory processing disorders.

The party is in Timmins at 100B Wilson Ave. Clinical supervisor Lisa Malette-Lilko says it’s from 1:00pm until 3:00pm and is for families right across Cochrane District.

It takes into consideration some senses that could be challenged.

“Some gentle lighting, some sensory friendly activities, being mindful of the different noises that are happening in the background,” explains Malette-Lilko, “and just really being able to adapt the environment as we see challenges arise.”

There is no charge to partygoers.  Details and registration are available on the Hands Autism Services Facebook page.

“We do have a registration link on our Facebook page,” says Malette-Lilko. “So, if folks look up Hands Autism Services, they will be able to find that link and register to come have some fun with us.”
