UPDATE: 24-year-old driver killed in collision with house in Iroquois Falls

It was a pick-up truck that smashed into a house in Iroquois Falls last night and then exploded — not a transport, as earlier reported.

Provincial police confirm that the driver – a 24-year-old Iroquois Falls resident — was killed.  The young family in the home managed to escape with no physical injuries, although the father did have to climb through rubble to get one of his daughters out.  The girls are two years old and less than one.

As of late this morning, Ambridge Dr. remains closed for the ongoing investigation.  Traffic into and out of Iroquois Falls is being detoured via Jacob’s Hill Rd. and Monteith Rd.

Anyone with information about the collision, which happened at around 8:00pm, is asked to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
