Northeastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services make a concerted effort to keep families together. However, NEOFACS is always in need of foster homes.
Foster care and kinship service worker Joel Van Dyk says there’s a shortage right across the catchment area.
“So if we can get anyone to show any sort of interest,” he explains, “all they have to do is contact the agency and we can explain to them the entire process as how they can register to be a licenced foster parent.”
“You can be a couple,” Van Dyk continues, “you can be a single applicant, we do not discriminate based on age, gender (or) sexual orientation. If you are a willing participant to make a difference in the community, then we are more than happy to have you.”
