Minor renovation coming to Earl Porter Lanes is aimed at increasing use and revenue

The board that operates the non-profit Earl Porter Lanes bowling alley in Iroquois Falls is asking town council permission for a minor renovation.  The town owns the building.

Committee member James Judd says the idea arose from the well-received introduction of a golf simulator in December.

“We have a room adjoining the simulator room that we’re looking at opening up,” he states, “so that we can have more individuals checking out the simulator, enjoying that environment.”

Judd says it will increase revenues for the facility that provides employment for people with special needs.  The space will increase simulator capacity by 35 people, and can be rented out for parties and other events.

He adds that the Earl Porter Lanes committee will cover the “very minimal cost”.

“We’re not looking at thousands of dollars. It’s literally just opening up a small area within the room, nothing structural by any means. Just to allow access between the two rooms”
