Photo feature honours Remembrance Day

Over the next few weeks in our feature on photos from the Iroquois Falls Museum, we’re joining with Royal Canadian Legion Branch 70 observing Remembrance Day.

Museum volunteer Danny McIntyre provides the photos.

“The first one is a card of remembrance circa 1900 issued during the Boer War,” he points out, “crediting Canada for responding to the call from the Empire.”

Iroquois Falls didn’t exist at the time of the Boer War, but some veterans did move here later, and participated in the annual Remembrance Day ceremony.

Unlike most Fridays, McIntyre isn’t looking for information about the card.

“It’s just an example of Remembrance Day memorabilia that the museum has in its collection,” he says.
