Scouts planning Halloween dance

It costs money for activities for members of the First Cochrane Scout Group.

Commissioner Crystal Burkholder says one fun way of raising it is a youth Halloween dance for ages eight to 16 at the Scout Hall on Friday, October 29th.

“Everybody’s welcome to come in their costumes. We’re going to have a DJ there,” she points out. “We will have healthy snacks available for everybody and then there will be junk food also available for purchase.”

Admission is $5.00 in advance – tickets are available at Pet Valu – and $7.00 at the door.

“Profits from the dance are going to support Scouting activities, like camps,” Burkholder explains. “The older kids would like to do a first aid course; we usually rent the pool to take everybody swimming, or we’ll go skiing this winter.”

The First Cochrane group provides activities for kids aged five to 18. Some of them even come from Iroquois Falls.  Burkholder says Beavers and Cubs are almost at capacity, but there’s room for more Scouts, aged eleven to 14.  Adult volunteers are welcome any time.
