Local Cochrane art on display and for sale next month at library gallery

The Cochrane Art Club is planning an exhibit and sale of its members’ paintings from October 17th to November 4th.

President Frances Crundwell says it’s in the gallery on the lower level of the public library.

“There’s not too many people that know that there’s a gallery in the library, but there is,” she comments.

Crundwell suggests that you might be able to find a local piece of art to give as a Christmas present.

“Every artist is going to be allowed about three pieces each. Shirley Toal says she’s got probably enough paintings to fill the gallery herself.”

Crundwell says she’s pretty prolific herself.  She can finish a painting in three or four days.

She’s still working on the line-up, but has a list or artists already confirmed.

“Pauline Hopper, Mariebeth Bonfield, and I’m hoping to get Loretta Blackwell, Cheryl Cheff, Irene Slater, Wendy Dodds, Shirley Toal. There’s going to be quite a few of us in there.”

Also available to buy will be the Northern Ontario Art Association calendar, featuring a piece by Pauline Hopper, as well as a map and schedule of exhibits across the North.
