Mining Expo displays equipment, services and attracts young people to industry

The Canadian Mining Expo is back at the McIntyre Community Building in Schumacher this coming week.  President Glenn Dredhart of Canadian Trade Ex says with 400 exhibitors, it’s the biggest mining trade show outside of Las Vegas, and the only one in the shadow of an actual headframe.

“You know, with all the activity in the area, mining activity,” he remarks, “there’s no better place to host this event.”

One component of the Expo is educating 160 Grade 11 and 12 students about what a mining career looks like.

“We’re opening up that conference so that they can hear from young employees who have made the transition from high school education to a career in mining,” says Dredhart. “They’ll be listening to career-oriented male and females that are working within the mining industry and they’ll be giving their testimonies to these youth.”

The Expo covers virtually every square inch of the McIntyre Community Building inside and out, and happens Wednesday and Thursday.
