NEW LAND TAX

A proposed Municipal Land Tax could mean more costs for new homeowners in Cochrane and Iroquois Falls.  MPP of Timmins-James Bay, Gilles Bisson used the Timmins’ connecting link issue as an example of the province downloading too much money to municipalities.  Bisson says it’s an example of too many costs being thrust upon municipalities by the province with homeowners picking up the tab.  He says the bill is currently in committee and gives the public an opportunity to provide feedback.
