Santa Claus Fund Telethon takes to the web for the second straight year

Plan B worked so well last year for the Bill Harkins-Eugene Ricard Santa Claus Fund Christmas Telethon, the Iroquois Falls organization is resorting to it again this year.

Chairman Rick Charlebois says it will be live-streamed on Facebook and Youtube, using recorded entertainment submitted by the performers.  COVID-19 precluded last year’s event being live at the community auditorium.

That online method raised the most money in several years for the fund.

“We would have been happy to have done half of what we had done the year previous and instead, we ended up surpassing that objective by several thousand dollars,” Charlebois states.

Being on the world-wide web also attracted an audience far beyond the boundaries of the Falls.

“We also had support from expatriates, people that have moved away from Iroquois Falls,” says Charlebois. “We had people dialling in from Europe, from Eurasia, making donations, watching us, it was truly amazing.”

This year’s show is on Saturday, November 20th from 5:00 until 9:30pm, hosted by Jamy Bernier and Moose FM’s Bob McIntyre.  You can find it on Facebook or Youtube.

Money raised goes to gift cards for needy individuals and families in Iroquois Falls.
