Ininew Friendshp Centre looking for baby photo contest entries

It’s the 24th year for the Geegeesh baby photo contest at Cochrane’s Ininew Friendship Centre.  But like so many other things in the era of COVID-19, it’s very different from its predecessors.

Aboriginal family support worker Brandi Pollari says it’s for babies whose families live in Cochrane and are Friendship Centre members.

“Four categories, zero to six months; seven to 12; 13 to 18 and 19 to 24(months),” she outlines.

And unlike the previous 23 versions of the contest, this one isn’t having a photo shoot.  Pollari says you submit your own photos.

“Everything’s kind of changing a little bit in the world with Covid,” says Pollari, “so I chose because it’s summer and outdoors theme, so like any picture that’s outdoors with the kids.”

Friday is the entry deadline.  Families must live in Cochrane and belong to Ininew.

Send your submission to [email protected], using the hashtag #geegeesh .

“Geegeesh” is Cree for “baby”.
