Cochrane Fire Dept. gets COVID-19 grant from Ontario Fire Marshal

The Cochrane Fire Department is getting its share of COVID-19 funding announced last week by the Ontario Fire Marshal.

Chief Richard Vallée says the $5,900.00 will go towards software that will allow for virtual home inspections.

“We had a smoke alarm program that we want to do but with the virtual inspections we’ll be able to deliver that to the people of Cochrane,” Vallée tells My Cochrane Now Dot Com.

Every fire department in the province is eligibile for a base grant of $4,500.00, topped up by an amount based on population.

“Hey, $5,900.00,” the chief adds, “we sure can use it in our prevention program.”
