Stay-at-home order lacks clarity: Vanthof

The Ontario New Democratic Party is in favour of telling people to stay home. The issue to Timiskaming-Cochrane MPP John Vanthof, however, is the lack of clarity that’s causing confusion.  He quotes Premier Ford saying “essential means different things to different people.”

“If that is the case, that’s why when you put something forward as serious as a stay-at-home order, then it should lay out very clearly what essential means,” remarks Vanthof.

He adds that he feels the most concern for the police and other people who have to enforce the order.

“It’s going to be very hard to have to make all these judgment calls on a continual basis. People need direction.  This stay-at-home order, the way it’s written, is not providing that direction.”

The state of emergency that includes that order is in effect until February 11th at the earliest.
