Same course offerings at new francophone high school in Iroquois Falls

The director of education for the French public school board in our region says the new francophone high school in Iroquois Falls offers students everything they’ve been getting.

The building for l’Alliance is set to open for the new school year.  Until now, the school jointly operated with the French Catholic board was in rented space at Iroquois Falls Secondary School.

Simon Fecteau says there were no major issues at IFSS, but the boards wanted their own building.

“So it’s always a good thing to have your own space so you can make your own schedules and make sure you cater to your students in the same way you do in other schools that belong to you,” Fecteau remarks.

And there will be no change in course offerings.

“It’s going to be a little easier for our principals to set up timetables just because you’re not dependent on other groups in the building to use gyms at certain times and use the shops at certain times and so on.”

Ninety-seven students are already registered.  That’s about the same as in the last several years.  They live in Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Ramore and a few from Cochrane, Fecteau says.
