Ininew staff concerned about congregating kids during COVID-19 pandemic

Something that’s going on in Cochrane during the pandemic has the staff at the Ininew Friendship Centre so concerned, they’re alerting the whole community.

Mental health and addictions coordinator Catherine Colton says it’s the numbers of children congregating around town.

“This is not children from the same family, but it’s children who are friends of course,” she states, “but with the spread of the virus, it’s very concerning because these kids aren’t just maybe cross-infecting each other, but they’re bringing it home to their parents and their grandparents.”

“Anywhere from seven- or eight-year-olds up to teenagers and they’re in large groups.  This alarms people, police are being called and it’s not necessary, really.  We just want them to go home.”
