$10,000 for Manor redevelopment in memory of construction company founder

The fundraising campaign to build a new long term care home in Iroquois Falls received a $10,000 donation this week.

It’s from John Wlad and Sons Construction.

South Centennial Manor Redevelopment fundraising co-chair Gilles Forget says the Wlad family has always been a contributor.  But the timing of this particular cheque being delivered by Fred Wlad Jr. is because his grandfather — company founder John Wlad Sr. – died recently.

“He said he really enjoyed staying at the Manor and was well treated,” Forget recounts. “That’s exactly why the donation came, in memory of him.”

Fred also told the committee that his grandfather was excited at the thought of a new, updated Manor.

“The Wlad family have been very generous in the past, donating to the hospital and they’ve mentioned that they intend on donating in the future, and that’s good,” says Forget.
