Wide range of activities at Iroquois Falls Public Library for Ontario Library Week

Iroquois Falls Public Library CEO Diane Gagnon has a long list of free events lined up for Ontario Public Library Week, next week.

There’s a colouring contest for kids, and the annual sale of books, magazines and puzzles.

“It’s also Amnesty Week,” says Gagnon.  “Recent overdue fines for the week can be replaced with the donation of a non-perishable food item for our local food bank.”

Also next week is free computer use all day Wednesday, and a presentation from lawyer David Gorman that night.

“He will make a presentation regarding how important it is to have a will,” notes Gagnon.  “For this event, though, it’s a sign-up event.  You need to sign up.”

Gagnon says her library will also be debuting Walking Scrabble.  Developed at the library in Cochrane, it involves picking up letters as you walk around town, trying to come up with the highest scoring words for the week.  It’s meant to encourage literacy and physical and mental health.
