Operation Christmas Child getting underway

Christmas is only three months away, and Operation Christmas Child 2019 is starting to gear up.

Kimberly Beaudry is coordinating the program for Cochrane’s New Hope Community Church.

Operation Christmas Child sends shoebox-sized containers to other countries, where kids might not otherwise get any gifts.

Between now and the shipping date of November 24th, Beaudry is collecting items to go into boxes, taking on a different focus every week.

“This week specifically, I’m looking for girl items,” she says. “So that can be anywhere from a headband, hair ties, bobby pins, a stuffed teddy bear, anything like that.”

“The only thing is that Operation Christmas Child does have some restrictions.  So you can’t pack in a box toothpaste or shampoo or anything liquefied. So that kind of puts a little bit of a restriction on it, but there’s definitely a lot of things that people can buy.”

Boxes packed in Cochrane will go to western Africa, Central America and the Caribbean.
