Food + beer garden = Cochrane tailgate party at Dudley-Hewitt Cup

You’ll think you’ve come across a Cochrane version of a tailgate party when you go to the Tim Horton Events Centre this week, during the Dudley-Hewitt junior hockey tournament.

The 3013 Cochrane Army Cadets are selling food, starting at the end of the afternoon game until the start of the evening game or until they run out.

Cadet support committee chair Christina Doucette says the menu changes every night.

“Tonight (Wed.) we are serving pulled pork burritos,” she outlines. “ Tomorrow we have the nacho plate.  Friday we are looking at sausage on a bun and Saturday, it looks like we’re doing the Big Mex Burrito.”

Throw in the beer garden, and you get the tailgate party.

My Cochrane Now Dot Com spoke to Doucette after the first night (Tues.).  She says it went great.

“People are having a good time and people are enjoying the fact that we’re having a beautiful bonfire outside with the beer garden as well as the food.  So, so far, so good, we’re really having a good time.”

Doucette points out that you don’t have to be going to a hockey game to stop by and eat.  All the money raised goes to Cadet equipment and programming.
