Too old for Porquis Rock ‘n Blues Festival this year? Think again

If you’re starting to think you’re too old to go to the Porquis Rock ‘n Blues Festival this year, the Saturday headliner might change your mind, when you hear it about it from artistic director Colin Kennedy.

“We’re bringing back the legendary Downchild Blues Band for their 50th anniversary tour,” Kennedy notes.  Those who have been with us for 22 years will remember Downchild from being here 22 years ago for our first festival.”

The three-day festival opens Friday night, July 19th. Opening night will feature mostly country music with Cochrane-based Kickback Tracii opening for Eric Ethridge.

Kennedy says for Sunday, the festival committee is hoping to bring back the Battle of the Bands.

“(We’re) looking for contestants but we’re always looking for volunteers,” says Kennedy. “It’s a big show, it’s a lot of responsibility and there’s only so many of us, so anybody who’s looking to step up and possibly organize that, please reach out.”
