Town of Cochrane Issues a Fire Ban

The Town of Cochrane is issuing a fire ban.

The town says it is working with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry during this hot and dry weather. It says with this ban in effect, you can no have any sort of backyard fires within the town limits. The town says this includes anyone with a burning permit.

There have been fire bans in place south of Timmins for about a week, but since the weather in the area continues to heat up and dry out the town and MNRF says it’s time to ban backyard fires before anything gets out of hand.

The Iroquois Falls Fire Department says the fire ban is active in that region as well.

There is no immediate threat of forest fires in the area, but everyone should be doing what they can to prevent it from happening.
