(NHL)  The Calgary Flames handed Montreal their second consecutive loss beating the Canadiens 3-2 in overtime. Elsewhere Matt Duchene scored but it wasn’t enough as the LA Kings got past the Senators 4-3 in OT, Florida beat Winnipeg 6-4 and Philadelphia skated to a 4-1 victory over Vancouver.

(NFL)  The Atlanta Falcons held on for a crucial 20-17 win over the New Orleans Saints last night, setting up a three-way race for the NFC South title. Falcons QB Matt Ryan shook off three interceptions to guide the Falcons to the victory.

(Curling)  Kevin Koe  booked a spot in the men’s final at the Roar of the Rings tournament in Ottawa with a 7-4 victory over John Morris yesterday afternoon. The top three rinks in the nine-team fields make the playoffs. Brad Gushue, from St. John’s, N.L., moved into second place at 5-2. Winnipeg’s Mike McEwen is in a third-place tie with Reid Carruthers at 4-3 On the womens side  Calgary skip Chelsea Carey is guaranteed no worse than a tiebreaker appearance after a 9-8 win over Julie Tippin. Ottawa’s Rachel Homan beat Edmonton’s Val Sweeting 7-5 in the evening. Homan was alone in second place at 6-1 while  Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg is in third at 5 and 2
