SPORTS SCORES – MONDAY

(MLB)  It took extra innings but the Toronto Blue Jays lost the rubber game of a three game series last night to the Detroit Tigers. The last three batters of the game walked as relief pitcher Lucas Harrel walked Miguel Cabrera with the bases loaded to give Detroit a 6-5 victory. Jose Bautista, Kendrys Morales and Justin Smoak all homered for the Blue Jays but it wasn’t enough to help Toronto overcome 9 walks and 3 errors. Toronto’s next game is tonight in Boston versus the Red Sox. Marcus Stroman will get the start for the Blue Jays while Eduardo Rodriguez counters for Boston.

(Indigenous Athletes)  Ontario is hosting the 2017 North American Indigenous Games — one of the largest sporting and cultural gatherings of Indigenous people in the world.  This is the first time Ontario will host the international event, which showcases the athleticism and cultural heritage of Indigenous youth.  The province will welcome over 5,000 athletes from across Canada and the United States for the Games, with competitions taking place from July 17 to July 22. Athletes will compete in 14 different sports across the Greater Toronto-Hamilton Area at some of the state-of-the-art venues built for the 2015 Pan and Parapan American Games. Some of the events include lacrosse, 3D Archery and swimming.
