In NASCAR, Jimmy Johnson won the race at Homestead yesterday also winning the Sprint Cup Championship to tie Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt as the only drivers with seven titles.
The Cochrane Crunch played three games over the weekend. Friday they skunked Espanola 11-2, Saturday the doubled the Soo Eagles 6-3, but Sunday the Thunderbirds managed to slide a 3-1 victory.
Similarly, the Iroquois Falls Eskis played three games over the weekend, losing two. Kirkland Lake handed the lads a 7-1 spanking Friday night, and Sunday’s game against Rayside Balfour resulted in an 8-3 loss. But Saturday’s home game against the Gold Miners produced the Eskis weekend win, final score 7-5.
