Bible Chapel takes over Iroquois Falls Food Bank

The Iroquois Falls Food Bank has a new home in plenty of time before the existing one closes.

The congregation at the Iroquois Falls Bible Chapel on Victoria Road has taken it on.

Church member Margaret Frey is coordinating it.

“We are a small congregation,” she points out. “We are not doing this on our own in the sense of we have volunteers from the community who have already come forward to help us with this.”

The current food bank has its last monthly pick-up day just before Christmas.  The new location will have its first pick-up day on Saturday, January 16th. Frey says the hope is to have more than one day a month for that.

“Even though they can only access every 28 days, not everyone can make that particular day. It gets tricky, so we’re hoping to expand to two days.”

That second day would likely be a weekday evening, but Frey says client input is welcome.
