Crawford Nickel Project clears another hurdle

Another major milestone has been achieved towards construction of the Crawford nickel mine north of Timmins.

The owner, Canada Nickel, has been given a positive decision statement by the federal ministry for environment, climate change and nature.

Company CEO Mark Selby says he looks forward to advancing towards a construction decision in 2027. That requires detailed engineering, financing, and securing whatever federal and provincial permits are needed.

Crawford is estimated to contribute about $70-billion to the economy and provide about 185,000 thousand person-years of employment.
