It’s baffling why the parking lots at the Timmins Airport are overflowing this week, prompting an advisory to get a ride out there to catch your flight.
Airport manager Dave Dayment says a full lot can usually be predicted for certain times, like school holidays and the recent mining show in Toronto.
A new airport master plan was just delivered to City Hall. Dayment says some of the incremental things to change in the facility are based on passenger and aircraft movements.
“One of the ones that was identified is our parking,” he acknowledges. “So that is on our radar to try to maybe expand our existing parking. That’s not going to happen this week or this month or maybe even part of this year. We have some terminal work we want to do first.”
“Our flight schedule stays the same here until the end of the month, when Air Canada is going to be adding a third flight seven days a week. So the morning flight will be added for the spring-summer schedule.”
