Eastlink going dark in Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls

Customers of Eastlink cable TV in Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls will see their screens go dark at the end of next month.

The Halifax-based company places part of the blame on the CRTC for allowing the big three – Bell, Rogers and Telus – to use smaller networks like Eastlink’s to resell their own services.

The decision is also because the older technology used in the two Northern communities is no longer viable to upgrade or keep operational.

On May 31st, 70 customers in Iroquois Falls and 25 in Smooth Rock Falls will lose their TV channels.

Eastlink doesn’t offer telephone or internet service in either community.
