Airport advice as big dig-out proceeds

The big dig-out is on, following the largest single snowfall most of us can remember in this region. It affected almost every aspect of life, especially travel.

Ontario 511 is still the best place to check for road closures.

And at the Timmins Airport, manager Dave Dayment says his crew has been working feverishly to clear snow.

“Runway’s in good shape,” he reports, crediting diligent work by his crew. “I’m asking people to check with their airline. I think Air Canada’s going to put an extra flight on to try and catch up with some of the delayed passengers.”

Dayment is however recommending not driving yourself to the airport.

“Our runway’s in great shape, but our parking lot is drifted in and it’s v3ery difficult to find parking for vehicles. So if you can at all get a ride out there today ‘til we can get caught up, it’d be much appreciated.”
