Chimo looking more dapper than usual

The most prominent resident of Cochrane has undergone a sprucing-up.

Chimo the polar bear stands 24/7 at the entrance to town, welcoming people to come in off the highway and visit.

Board of Trade president Dan Brunet (broo-NEH) says Chimo was beginning to look weathered, after this current iteration of him standing there for six or seven years.

“Basically we sanded down all the old paint and then re-covered it with the same type of paint,” Brunet explains.

He invites you take a selfie with Chimo. You can enter it into a contest until the end of the month.

“You can share your photo on Facebook, Instagram, tag @cochraneboardoftrade, use #cochranepolarbear.”

There are weekly prizes of 25 Chamber Bucks and a grand prize of 250 Chamber Bucks.

Chimo is an Inuktitut word for friend, hello and goodbye.
