Construction proceeding at Abitibi Canyon power generating station

Construction is progressing at the Abitibi Canyon generating station near Smooth Rock Falls.

Ontario Power Generation Project manager Zack Brandt says the concrete structures that were originally commissioned in 1933 have deteriorated over time. He adds that the west side of the concrete is being replaced.

About 45 people are employed and staying at the Otter Rapids Construction Camp.

The project is expected to be wrapped up by this December.
