Help for newcomers to Canada available monthly at Cochrane Public Library

Newcomers to Canada living in and around Cochrane have a free resource to help them navigate the immigration process.

On the third Wednesday on every month – so this coming Wednesday – the outreach coordinator from the Timmins Multicultural Centre is at the Cochrane Public Library between 10:00am and 3:00pm..

Jaspreet Kaur offers guidance dealing with applications for various immigration programs.

“We also help and provide guidance in regards of employment, housing, learning English and French languages,” she says, “and also finding daycare and schools and community connections.”

All of that is provided in a one-on-one session.

“We will also organize group sessions as well,” Kaur adds. “We provide information sessions for newcomers.”

The service is free to you.  The federal government covers the cost. You can walk in to the library or book an appointment with it or the Timmins Multicultural Centre.
