Library closed? That’s virtually no problem

Lots of time on your hands, and you can’t even walk over to the Cochrane Public Library to check out some books.  As non-essential, it’s closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, Ardis Proulx-Chedore – who’s the assistant to the CEO – reminds us that the library is also on the internet.

“Our physical building is closed to the public, but we still have a lot of stuff going on, digitally online,” she says.

You can still do things you enjoy, learn skills, read books and listen to audio books.  And Chedore notes that there are instructional videos on getting started writing your own books.

“A lot of people are like ‘how do I begin writing something’?  And we have one from Lauren Wolk. And again these are all very widely known Canadian authors and American authors.

The library even has live tech-help sessions planned.

“People will be able to go to our Facebook page or our YouTube channel and ask their questions in real time and get some tech assistance,” Chedore outlines, “because we know there are people out there having a hard time downloading ebooks and audio books and just accessing some of the online resources that are available.”

On Saturday, the library debuts an online video paying tribute to library volunteers.
