Delaurier returns as I.F. mayor

By a very narrow margin, Tory Delaurier is back in as mayor of Iroquois Falls.  The incumbent’s 912 votes are only 44 more than his only opponent, Michelle Larose.

Delaurier starts outlining what contributed to his success by saying “door knocking”.

“What we accomplished in the last four years made a big difference too,” he states, “and getting a good team at town hall and people noticing that. We have great administration and great workers at our town.”

Delaurier also cites good fiscal responsibility. He notes that the municipality has $18-million in guaranteed income certificates that generate $1.5-million in annual interest.

His priorities for the upcoming term include working with Abitibi Connex and Canada Nickel to get things done at the former paper mill site.

“Also housing in Iroquois Falls – senior housing and looking after our arena and our recreation facilities.”

The mayor-elect also wants another motel built in his town.
